Even today, many fans of British automotive culture still regard it as a symbol of the gritty, honest English roadster - the Triumph TR5. It was presented in the summer of 1967 as the successor to the Triumph TR4A. Designed by the Italian design studio Michelotti, the classic roadster differed externally from its predecessor only by additional chrome trim on the sides and a few other minor details. Under its long hood, however, the TR5 now featured a long-stroke inline six-cylinder engine with 2.5 liters of displacement and a Lucas fuel injection. From July 1967 to September 1968, only 2947 examples of this 143-hp old-school roadster were produced in Coventry, making it an automotive rarity and sought-after collector‘s item today.
